On 12.08.2025 at around 03:00 a.m., the T-14 Pallikaranai Police Station team, conducted vehicle check near Kaiveli signal, intercepted an auto-rickshawfrom Velachery bearing Regd No.TN 72 U 9286, on suspicion and inspected the auto, identified a bag which contains 12 kgs of Ganja, the team seized it and arrested 1) Danush@Damaal, A/21, S/o Venkatesh, No. 2-15, Nesavalar Nagaar, Bagavath Singh street, Jalladayanpettai, Chennai-100, 2) Johnson, A/28, S/o Jeyakodi, No. 3-D 162, Vanathurai Kudiyirupu, Perumbakkam, Chennai-100. They confessed that, they had purchased Ganja from Andhra Pradesh, to supply to labours and residents in and around Pallikaranai and Perumbakkam areas. In this regard a case has been registered in T-14 Pallikaranai Police Station Cr.no.456/2025 u/s 8(c), 20(b)(ii)(C)29(1) NDPS Act., and taken up for investigation.
On the same day (12.08.2025) at about 06.30 am, another team, watching on a specific information near at Vinayagar Temple, Professor Street, Alapakkam, within the limits of the T-6 Peerkankaranai, PS, the team intercepted a Hyundai Creta, vehicle TN 12 K 2691. During the search of the vehicle, it was discovered 150 kgs of Gutkha and arrested accused Sathya, A/37, S/o Ramesh, No. 26, Mettu Street, Naravarikuppam, Redhills, Chennai-52, seized the vehicle TN 12 K 2691, 150 kgs of Gutkha, Rs. 55,000/- cash and a mobile phone.
Upon interrogation, Sathya confessed that, he had purchased the gutkha products from an individual in Chittoor district, Andhra Pradesh, and was transporting them for sale to shops in Perungalathur and Alapakkamareas. Further he revealed that, he had supplied over 350 kg of gutkha and tobacco products to SoundararajanA/34, S/o Shanmugasundaram, who runs a grocery shop in Balaji Nagar, Anakaputhur. Based on this information, a raid was conducted at Soundararajan’s house in Balaji Nagar, Anakaputhur, and seized 350 kg of gutkha, Rs. 10,000/- cash, and a mobile phone. Totally 500 kgs of Gutkha were seized.
In this regard, a case has been registered against the accused, Sathya and Soundararajan, at T6, Peerkankaranai PS, in Crime No. 452/2025, U/s 123 BNS r/w 24 (1) COTPA Act. All the four arrested individuals were produced before the concerned judicial Magistrates and sent to judicial custody.
